They Said It

To Lucy at dinnertime:
Mom: Can you say “water?”
Dad: Wa-ter (clearly enunciated)
Lucy: Wa wer
Mom and Dad: Good job, Lucy!
Henry: No, it’s not wa-ter.  It’s wa-der! 

To Henry, after he took a couch pillow upstairs:
Mom: Henry, do you know where the couch pillow is?
Henry: (thinking) Well, I think it’s all gone.  I think it went in the river. 

Opening an envelope:
Henry: I’m just looking to see if there’s a email inside.

To me, as I’m going to the bathroom:
Henry: Be careful, Mommy!  Don’t fall in the potty!
