Our latest “big adventure” was a trip to DC. I was planning to meet a friend at a metro station and we were going to ride into the city together to attend the Stand Up For Religious Freedom rally, but I failed to provide myself adequate directions and ended up driving around in circles for a really long time. In the end, we never did get to the right metro station, but we did find a different one and took the train in for a short trip to the city anyway. We saw the dinosaurs and had a picnic on the mall. It was a long day, but I couldn’t have been more proud of my kids, who were SO good the entire time. Even during the return trip on the metro, which ended up being during rush hour on a Friday afternoon at the peak of Cherry Blossom season (good planning on my part).
We’ve also been gradually introducing Lucy to the idea of potty training. This is going to be a very different experience than potty training Henry. I like to give her the option of a clean diaper or underwear when I change her, and mostly she chooses diapers. Some days, however, the appeal of Dora underwear is too much to handle and she opts for that instead.
You can’t see it, but she’s actually wearing TWO pairs of underwear in this picture. And yes, they both got peed in a few minutes later.
Today, our entertainment is brought to us courtesy of the Town of Leesburg Utilities Department. They are replacing the pipes in front of our house. Dump trucks and backhoes and hard hats, oh my! I sure hope the work men enjoy having an audience!
And I’ll leave you with this. Please pardon the odd baby-noises in the background. Charlie must have been manning the camera.
